First Trimester Exercises

During the first trimester you can participate in almost any exercise that you normally would during pregnancy. You may find however that your constant fatigue and feelings of morning sickness tend to prevent you from exercising as much as you like. Make a point during your first trimester to stretch as often as possible, and go for walks when you can to clear your head and to improve your spirits.

If you regularly engaged in exercise prior to becoming pregnant, you can likely continue your exercise routine through the first trimester. You’ll want to modify your exercise program during your pregnancy to accommodate your growing belly.

Most physicians and healthcare practitioners recommend that you try to keep your heart rate below 140 during pregnancy. This will ensure that your baby is receiving an adequate blood supply throughout your pregnancy.
