Where Does All That Weight GO?

I’m sure you are wondering where all the weight gain during pregnancy goes, right? Here is a rough estimate of where all the weight goes during your pregnancy:

Maternal Weight Gain Distribution During Pregnancy:

Breasts 1-2 pounds
Baby 6-9 pounds
Increased Blood Volume 3 pounds
Edema or Retained Fluid 4-7 pounds
Uterus 2 pounds
Placenta 1.5 pounds
Maternal Fat Stores 7 pounds

Now remember that all women are unique and different. Some babies for example will be born weighing 10 pounds. Some women may find that their breast tissue increases to what seems like closer to 3 pounds than one or two. How much weight gain during pregnancy will depend on a number of factors, some of which are genetically predetermined.
